Romance writer Nora Roberts is passionate about passion. She writes books faster than most people read them. Since 1981, she's written well over 100 novels in virtually every subcategory of the romance genre. She's merged danger, humor, and hormones in amorous suspense tales like Montana Sky and True Betrayals; she's made the 21st century sexy, fun, and bit scary in her ongoing ...in Death mysteries starring crime-fighter Eve Dallas; and she's brought sighs of satisfaction with straight, no-chaser romances like the Born in... series and This Magic Moment. Roberts grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, the youngest of five children. She made up stories in her head as a child, but only began writing them down as an adult, when a 1979 blizzard kept her housebound. Thereafter, Roberts worked around the schedules of her two sons, writing when they were asleep or in school, and always keeping a spiral notebook close at hand. After several of her manuscripts were rejected, Roberts made her publishing debut in 1981 with Irish Thoroughbred, a "category" romance in the Harlequin tradition. After a few years, she began writing longer, mainstream romantic fiction along with category titles. By the late 1980s, it was common to see Roberts's name simultaneously on the romance and mainstream bestseller lists. In recognition of her numerous achievements around the world, Roberts became the first author inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame.
